Directions

Heading north from Portland, ME:

Damariscotta is about fifty miles northeast of Portland, ME. It is north of Boothbay and south of Waldoboro.

From Portland, travel north on Highway 295 to the exit marked #31 for “Topsham – Lisbon – Route 196” . Turn right at the light onto Route 196-E towards “Route 1 – Bath – Cooks Corner” and drive about 2.5 miles in the left lane onto Highway 1. Continue north on Highway 1 past “Historic Bath” and the exit for “Boothbay Harbor Region”.

Look for the large orange hay bale pumpkin at Split Rock Distilling, after which watch for the shuttle’s southern-most FREE parking lot & shuttle stop located at Homeport (597 Highway One, Newcastle).

There will be another large orange hay bale pumpkin at Mexicali Blues, as well as further signage before the exit marked “Damariscotta – Colonial Pemaquid – Fort William Henry – Bristol – Routes 129/130”. Leave Highway 1 and continue downhill on Business Highway 1.

Follow the FREE PARKING/SHUTTLE signs to the available lots

Heading South from Rockland, ME:

Damariscotta is about forty miles from Rockland, ME. It is south of Waldoboro and north of Boothbay.

From Rockland, travel south on Highway 1 for about 25 miles to the Damariscotta turnoff for Business Highway 1. Look for the large orange hay bale pumpkin at N.C. Hunt Lumber Company.

Take a left exit at N.C. Hunt Lumber and continue about one mile to Great Salt Bay School (located on your left at 559 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543) and follow the “Damariscotta Pumpkinfest Shuttle/Parking” signs to the GSB’s FREE PARKING lot.

Parking and Shuttles

The interactive map above shows available Pumpkinfest parking. Limited on-street and lot parking is possible in town during the festival, but we highly recommend that you plan to park in one of our Pumpkinfest lots and take the shuttle into town.

Primary Lots

From the south, follow the “Damariscotta Pumpkinfest Shuttle/Parking” signs to the exit marked “Highway 129/130-Damariscotta”, and follow the FREE PARKING/SHUTTLE signs to the lots located at Lincoln Academy (81 Academy Hill, Newcastle, ME 04553).

From the north, take the Damariscotta turnoff for Business Highway 1. Look for the large orange hay bale pumpkin at N.C. Hunt Lumber Company.

Take a left exit at N.C. Hunt Lumber and continue about one mile to Great Salt Bay School (located on your left at 559 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543) and follow the “Damariscotta Pumpkinfest Shuttle/Parking” signs to the GSB’s FREE PARKING lot.

Additional lots
Southern Lot:  On Highway 1 south of Damariscotta is located the southern-most FREE parking lot & shuttle stop, which is at Homeport (597 Highway One, Newcastle).   
Northern lots: On Highway 1, at the flashing light marking Belvedere Road; there are two FREE parking lots & shuttle stops: (1) at Miles Home Health Care & Hospice  –  40 Belvedere Road, AND (2) the LDS Church   at 61 Belvedere Road).  
Also at that flashing light marking Belvedere Road, turn off Highway 1 towards Business Highway 1 (Main Street), where you will turn right on Main Street toward the FREE parking lots & shuttle stop located at Great Salt Bay School (559 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543).
If those lots are full, continue on Business Highway One (‘Upper’ Main Street) to the traffic light at Biscay Road (@ the McDonalds) and turn east onto Biscay Road.  On the left about two blocks down will be a sign for Coastal Kids Preschool (12 Jackie’s Trail Road), where FREE parking & shuttle stop will be available.  Further down Biscay Road, look on the left for signs to park at the Hagar Enterprises equipment lot, again for FREE parking & shuttle stop.
Additional parking lots may be specified closer to the event, so please check back to this page in October.

Shuttles

A fleet of SHUTTLE VANS will be running continuously on Saturday through Monday, October 12 – 14 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to take you to all of the events, both downtown Damariscotta/Newcastle and to Upper Main Street venues. One shuttle vehicle has accessibility capability, and the GSB School parking lot is best as it is flatter, and that vehicle will make the loop every 15 minutes.
