Ladies & Gentleman, start your engines…

The Pumpkin Derby brings yet another way to utilize a pumpkin, as spectators and contestants will enjoy the “soapbox-styled” pumpkin-car race! A perfect parental bonding opportunity!

The Derby will take place on Sunday, October 12th at 9 am in the Elm Street Plaza, behind Main Street.

Participants are asked to register and provide payment in person when they pick up their axle kit in downtown Damariscotta on Friday, October 10th or Saturday, October 11th at the Pit Stop!

Derby Guidelines:

Racer Ages: Up to 17 years old

  • Racers must provide their own pumpkin between 15-20 lbs.

  • All racers must pay $10 for materials & PICK UP THEIR WHEELS/AXLE to equip their Pumpkin-car at Pumpkinfest Pit Stop in advance! See details below!

  • In person “Check Your Engines” Check In - 8am on Sunday, October 12th (registered racers only!)

    • Bring decorated, equipped pumpkin and racers line up!

  • 9 am on Sunday, October 12th - Race begins!

Prepare your pumpkin-car at the Pit Stop!

Registration Required!

  • Come to the Pit stop to get necessary equipment to race and then decorate your pumpkin at home prior to race

    • Hours: Friday, October 10th from 2:00- 6:00 PM and Saturday, October 11th from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

    • Location: Elm Street Plaza, 30 Elm Street, Damariscotta.

    • Cost: $10 per pumpkin kit. No markup, just cost, and we install for you!

    • Cost $5.00 if you return with all the hardware from a previous year

  • We drill holes, install tires and axles to your pumpkin-car. All registrants must use our provided tires and axles.
